West Hove GC
just misses out in a 'Club of the
Year' award |
|
 |
On Wednesday 12 October the Club's General Manager, Gary Salt,
attended the Amex Community Stadium at Falmer where the 2011
Brighton & Hove City Council Sport & Physical Activity Awards
were presented.
Over 300 attended the function in the BUPA
Lounge and the Council presented many awards in addition to
announcing the two torch bearers for the Olympic Flame when it
is carried through the city.
West Hove had been
nominated in the 'TAKEPART Club of the Year'
category and reached the final short-list of three.
Unfortunately we were not announced as the winners but Gary
was presented with a "Highly Commended" certificate on behalf
of the Club.
This was a very good achievement considering the number of
clubs within the Brighton & Hove area - indeed, we were the
first golf club to have made the short-list. For the record,
the worthy winners were Hollingbury Table-Tennis Club.

Sophie Kennard wins the scratch
prize in the SCLGA Junior Girls Spring Meeting |
|
|
Congratulations go to Sophie Kennard, who plays off 9, for
winning the scratch prize in the SCLGA Junior Girls Spring
Meeting at Chartham Park GC on 18 April 2011. On the front
nine she had a triple bogey but recovered her composure to
shoot just two over par on the last eight holes to record a
gross 81.

Dress Code was introduced in December 2010, just before the
very cold and snowy weather arrived.
However, the Code appears to make no reference to fake fur,
but two of our Lady Members, Jenny Davis (left) and Jill
Corbett, were not deterred and found these hats the only way
to combat the cold.
They must be
"tee cosies"! |
